Tip: Make sure you
delete any old unused dial-up connections so
that they don't confuse any of your programs
that are used to using that old connection.
If you only have your current connection in
there then your programs such as Internet Explorer
or Netscape should automatically use the right
one.
Click on the "Properties"button.
Make sure the check is taken out of "Use
Dialing Rules."
Enter The phone number of your ISP.
Click on the "Configure..."button just beneath the top box
Set the "Maximum speed (bps)"
to 57600.
Select "Enable hardware flow control."
Select "Enable modem error control."
Select "Enable modem compression."
Select "Enable modem speaker."
Click "OK."
Click the "Options" tab.
Select "Display progress while
connecting."
Select "Prompt for name and password,
certificate, etc."
Select "Prompt for phone number."
Click on the "Security"
tab
Choose "Typical (recommended
settings)."
Click the Networking tab
Under "Type of dialup server..."
select "PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000,Internet."
You need a checkmark for "Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP)" (the other items
are optional).
Click on the "Settings"button underneath PPP.
Select "Enable software compression."
Click on the "Advanced"
tab.
None of the advanced options need to be
selected
Click "OK"
and you're ready to connect to the Internet.
